Scholarship opportunities
Congratulations to our scholarship recipients! The current application and selection period is closed.
Goodwin Foundation scholarships are awarded three times annually, on a semester by semester basis.
Students can expect to apply for scholarships during the following timeframes:
- Fall scholarships will launch in July
- Spring scholarships will launch in November
- Summer scholarships will launch in March

Annual Golf Tournament Scholarship
Funded by the Goodwin FoundationEstablished in 2005, by the Goodwin Foundation Golf Committee to provide continuous support to Goodwin students.
Scholarship amount: varies based on individual student need

Burd Overton Scholarship
Created by Peter and Susan KlockThe Burd Overton Scholarship Fund was established in 2024 by Peter and Susan Klock in memory of their mothers, both of whom were acclaimed educators with singular devotion to the field of education.
Scholarship amount: $2,500

- Registered for the fall semester at Goodwin University
- Any major and have 50% credit hours completed
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Datanomix Scholarship
Created by John and Kelly Joseph FoundationEstablished in 2021 for Manufacturing students and they must be registered for the fall semester at Goodwin University.
Scholarship amount: $1,000

Evan Howard Scholarship
Created by Elizabeth Kaplan and William HowardEstablished in 2023 by the Kaplan/Howard family in honor of Evan Howard.

Excellence in Nursing in Memory of Mary Galatro Donahue RN Scholarship
Established in 2023 by Rose Maljanian in memory of her mother, Mary G. Donahue.

- Registered for fall semester at Goodwin University
- Nursing major and have 50% credit hours completed
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Finish Line Fund Scholarship
Funded by the Goodwin FoundationEstablished in 2017, these scholarships are awarded to qualifying students with 16 credits or less remaining before graduation.
Scholarship amount: varies based on individual student need
Number of scholarships available this semester: variable upon eligibility
- 16 credits or less remaining in an associate or bachelor’s degree program
- Academic advisor signature required to confirm credits remaining
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Proven financial need*

Funded by the Goodwin FoundationThese scholarships are awarded to students as early as their 2nd semester with the intention of offering support throughout their educational journey.

Funded by the Goodwin FoundationThis annual scholarship is awarded to an enrolled student at Goodwin University pursing a master’s degree.

- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

- Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL)

Goodwin University Alumni Association Scholarship (Alumni Scholarship Fund)
This annual scholarship is awarded to an enrolled Alumni student at Goodwin University.

Hoffman Family Endowed Scholarship
Created by Jeffrey HoffmanThe Hoffman Family Endowed Scholarship was established by Jeffrey S. Hoffman in honor of his mother, Phyllis Hoffman, and in memory of his father, Burton C. Hoffman.

Horton Family Scholarship
Created by the Horton FamilyEstablished in 2022 by the Horton Family, this scholarship is for a University master’s student.

- Preference will be given to Goodwin University master’s students enrolled in the following programs:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Martin “Marty” K. Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund
Funded by Friends of Marty SheaEstablished in 2025, the Martin “Marty” Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of a longtime Goodwin University trustee, board member, and donor. A Manchester, Connecticut native and passionate advocate for the University’s mission, Marty served in key leadership roles on the Board of Trustees and the Goodwin Foundation. He also co-chaired the Annual Golf Tournament, helping to raise more than $1 million in scholarship funds for hardworking students. Each spring, the Marty Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund awards $1,000 to an enrolled Goodwin student with a minimum 3.0 GPA, continuing Marty’s enduring commitment to student success.

Roger H. Evans Scholarship
Created by Joe Palmer, President Nutmeg Insurance Group, Inc.Established in 2019, this scholarship was created in honor of Roger H. Evans and is awarded to a certificate, associate, or bachelor’s level student in the Business Administration program.

Rotary Club of East Hartford Scholarship
Established in 2016, this annual scholarship, awarded by the Rotary Club of East Hartford, goes to a Goodwin University student residing in East Hartford.

Scholarship for Future Nurses
Created by Lois DanielsThis scholarship is made possible by Lois Daniels, founder of the Nursing associate degree program, and in memory of her mother, Cornelia Harriet Olin Kopp.

Funded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 120Established in 2021, this annual scholarship is awarded to an enrolled Veteran student at Goodwin University.

Elizabeth Kilgariff Russell Scholarship
Created by Dan RussellEstablished in 2014 by long-time resident of East Hartford Dan Russell in honor of his wife, Elizabeth Kilgariff Russell, this scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to a female student residing in East Hartford who has committed to bettering herself in both her personal and professional career.
Scholarship amount: Up to $10,000

- Female resident of East Hartford preferred, majoring in any program of study
- Enrolled in the final year of her degree

Frank and Ceil Collins Scholarship
Created by Ceil CollinsEstablished in 2014 by long-time residents of East Hartford, Frank & Ceil Collins, this scholarship is awarded to a student on an annual basis.

Goodwin University now has access to Scholarship Universe, a resource that makes finding scholarship opportunities easier! This online platform uses artificial intelligence to match students with external scholarships for which they are eligible. Students can log in to Scholarship Universe using their Goodwin University credentials, and create a profile by answering questions about their academic interests, backgrounds, and career aspirations. Scholarship Universe automatically matches them with scholarships that fit their unique qualifications.
