CTRA之前的生活：

"Before joining 康涅狄格河学院, I was always bored in class, and I would finish my work quickly without being challenged. Before becoming a CTRA scholar, every day at school felt the same, and I didn't feel like I was learning or reaching my potential. 我也很难交到朋友，因为我的学术能力和对动物和野生动物的兴趣，我经常被同龄人欺负。 When the bullying escalated, I knew I had to do something different with my life— to get out of my hometown and expand my horizons."

CTRA的生活：

"High school is such an important time to discover who you are, and CTRA made me more confident. 作为一名学者，我在排球队和音乐剧参加了四年。 我在学业上也取得了很高的成绩，并参加了学生会和国家荣誉协会。 Through the high school's early college model and Capstone project, I earned free college credits and got to mentor under a local veterinarian — I even scrubbed in on surgeries!

在CTRA，我不仅在学业上受到挑战，我的理想也受到挑战。 The school’s diversity was the most significant impact on my life. Through learning about social justice and interacting with peers from backgrounds different than my own, my education has shaped how I think and interact with the world around me today."

"I am currently a student attending Tufts University as a biology major in the pre-veterinary science track. 我使用了CTRA在我大学生活中灌输给我的许多技能和思维过程。 我总是尝试从多个角度解决问题，并寻求不同的友谊和关系。 I also use my confidence and leadership abilities to co-captain the Tufts Cheerleading team."

“I grew up in Hartford and bounced around between there and New Britain. 我上的小学和中学主要是西班牙裔/拉丁裔学生。 Teachers weren’t exactly warm, the infrastructure was crumbling, and I was told that I wouldn't make it past high school by many people. No one in my family had finished high school or gone to university, but in looking for high schools, my mother was determined to find the best opportunity for me, and she did with CTRA.”

“CTRA was a safe haven for me, and that feeling of belonging, of a tightknit family, was always present. 我在那里感受到的安全和保障是惊人的，老师们鼓励我鞭策自己，实现自己的目标。 最重要的是，获得机会对改变我的生活起了不可估量的作用。

“With the strength that CTRA gave me, I went off to UCONN, where I earned my Bachelor’s in Special Education and a Minor in English, and then my Master’s in Educational Psychology with a certificate of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

While attending UCONN, I studied abroad in South Africa and was involved with many campus activities and organizations on UCONN’s campus. 我是表演诗歌班的导师，校园大伙伴的项目主任，康涅狄格大学几位第一代学生的住宿助理和同伴顾问。

我目前在日本教英语。

CTRA之前的生活：

“I attended multiple magnet school open houses and was drawn to CTRA after hearing about the chance to take college classes for free while still in high school. The school’s community culture also appealed to me. When I went to visit, I noticed that the school’s glass building was bright, and so were the personalities inside. Everyone seemed to know each other, and in comparison, to other schools, the difference at CTRA was day and night.”

CTRA的生活：

“CTRA gave me the chance to build community with my classmates and give back to my hometown. While a scholar, I was a student worker for the music program — helping with acapella groups and chorus concerts. 我还协助美术课、“时尚垃圾”表演，志愿参加当地的献血活动和校园附近的康涅狄格河清理活动。

作为一名学者，我还在皇冠app免费上了11门大学课程。 参与早期大学模式的机会改变了我对未来的看法。 I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with the rest of my life when I was in high school, but because I was able to take classes at Goodwin, I found out what I liked, what I didn’t like, and the experience set me ahead on a career path I enjoy.”

CTRA之后的生活：

“After I graduated CTRA, I applied and ultimately enrolled in Goodwin University’s Business Administration program. 因为我是CTRA的奖学金获得者，所以我获得了皇冠app50%的学费减免奖学金。 I was also the recipient of a Business Administration scholarship which took an additional 30% off — totaling an 80% savings on my education.* 我父母很喜欢！

高中毕业后，我用了五个学期就拿到了学位。 I graduated from Goodwin with my Bachelor’s in Business Administration in just two years. Now, I am an Instructor for Riverside Magnet School and I am looking forward to providing my students that same sense of community inside my classroom."
