Meet the Teacher Leadership (M.Ed.) Program Director

Scott Fellows, MS, Ed.D.

With over 35 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and educational leader, Dr. Scott Fellows brings deep expertise and a student-centered philosophy to the Teacher Leadership (M.Ed.) program.

A lifelong educator, Dr. Fellows taught mathematics in Regional School District 1— Connecticut’s first regional district— serving six towns and generations of students. Although Dr. Fellows always loved mathematics, his passion for teaching was rooted in a desire to help students grow academically, emotionally, and personally. Encouraging their curiosity, building their confidence, and supporting their success became the foundation of his career. At the heart of Dr. Fellows’s teaching philosophy is a commitment to fostering classroom environments that help every student succeed, no matter their starting point.

His leadership experience spans multiple administrative roles, including assistant superintendent, interim superintendent, and interim principal. In addition to his work in K–12 districts, Dr. Fellows has taught education at the college level and has served on the Teacher Leadership (M.Ed.) program’s advisory committee since its inception. His longstanding connection to the program gives him unique insight into its vision, outcomes, and value for today’s educators.

For Dr. Fellows, teacher leadership is about shaping the big picture of what schools can become. He believes the joint Goodwin University and University of Bridgeport Teacher Leadership program offers a uniquely rich opportunity, bringing educators from diverse backgrounds together to create a dynamic, interdisciplinary learning experience grounded in real-world practice. As program director, Fellows aims to help Goodwin students gain practical insights into classroom challenges, learn how to avoid common pitfalls new educators face, and build the foundation necessary to become effective and enduring professionals— ultimately supporting stronger teacher retention across districts.

Above all, Dr. Fellows encourages educators to keep students at the center of every decision. “If you always put kids first,” he notes, “everything else will follow.”
