Medical assistants work very closely with healthcare providers to ensure the timeliness and quality of a patient’s visit. You will be one of the first faces a patient sees, and you will handle everything from obtaining vital signs to helping with examinations to handling patient records and history.
At Goodwin, you can complete your associate degree in Medical Assisting in a short time— in as few as 12 to 16 months— while also positioning yourself for future success with a college degree. Some schools offer training in Medical Assisting— but not for college credit. Goodwin is a fully accredited, well respected, nonprofit college, where you earn real college credits that count towards your associate or bachelor’s degree.
As a Medical Assisting student, you will be simultaneously enrolled in the Medical Assisting certificate and associate degree programs. You will first complete the certificate requirements and receive a certificate in Medical Assisting; you will then continue in the associate degree program. Upon completion of the collegiate certificate program, immediately upon graduation you are eligible to apply for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) examination administered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT), and the Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) examination administered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This certification will make you a more qualified medical assistant who stands out to employers.
Goodwin University’s certificate degree program in Medical Assisting has programmatic accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
