Transfer Students

Transferring credits OUT of Goodwin

Each College or University sets its own transfer policies. It is best to contact the Admissions or Registrar’s department of the institution you are thinking of applying to in order to find out what their policies are regarding the transfer of credit.

Generally speaking most college and universities accept credits in transfer that:

  1. Were earned at a regionally accredited school.
    • Goodwin University became regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (NEASC, CIHE) in 2004. In 2018, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges became the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Goodwin University maintained continuous regionally accreditation through that process.
    • Previous to that Goodwin University had national accreditation through the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
  2. Have a passing grade.
    • Again this varies by school - contact the school you are thinking of applying to.
  3. Are collegiate in nature.
    • The Connecticut State Department of Higher Education gave Goodwin University the status of a degree granting, collegiate institution in 1999.
    • All Goodwin University courses are collegiate in nature except:
      • ESL - English as a Second Language courses
      • Any course with a code that begins with a ‘0’. Examples: ENG 089, ENG 099, MATH 097.
  4. Are earned through traditional coursework.
    • These are marked with a standard letter grade: A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc.
    • Credits on a Goodwin University transcript with a grade of ‘E’ may not transfer.
      • Again this is at the discretion of the institution that you are thinking of applying to.
