Disability and Access Services

Requesting academic accommodations

The Office engages in an interactive process with each student and determines reasonable accommodations on an individualized, case-by-case basis dependent upon the nature of each course and the method of instruction as it relates to the student’s disability.

Many students may have disabilities that are not visible, including ADHD, learning, or psychiatric disabilities. If you suspect that you may have a disability but are not sure, please contact or visit the Office of Disability and Access Services to learn more.

When to register

We encourage current and incoming students to connect with ODAS well before the start of a term so that any accommodations or services through our office can be in place as early in the term as possible. However, students may register with ODAS at any time.

For new students, we welcome you to connect with ODAS as soon as you have formally confirmed your commitment to attend Goodwin. For students who are still in exploratory stages, we are happy to schedule an informational meeting with you.

How to register

  1. Begin by telling us about you. Please complete the Student Registration Form. Email the completed form to Molly Zatony, Disability and Access Services Manager
  2. Meet with the ODAS Coordinator. We want to get to know you! Once you send us your registration form, we will be in touch to schedule a time to meet with you in-person, by phone, or by virtual/video meeting.
  3. What to expect. After meeting and gathering all relevant information, including documentation, you will receive confirmation in writing, via email, if and which accommodations will be available to you. If a request is determined not to be reasonable, you will receive a detailed rationale and help to explore other strategies and options.
  4. Be in touch. It is important that you let us know if your accommodations are not working for you. Please contact us if anything changes with respect to your initial request. Accommodation letters need to be updated each term. Please contact us in advance of your beginning each term.
