What is a two-year Nursing degree?

A 2-year nursing program, also known as an associate degree in nursing, or ADN, is the minimum amount of schooling required to prepare to become a registered nurse. Nurses who have earned their ADN must pass the NCLEX‑RN exam in order to become a licensed RN.

What do ADN nurses do?

With an ADN, licensed nurses are able to speak directly to patients about their symptoms, monitor and record vital signs, administer medication, and provide guidance on patient’s overall wellbeing pertaining to their visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Examining patient’s symptoms and health history
  • Recording patient information for physician diagnosis and decision-making
  • Educating patients on illness and injury management
  • Operating medical equipment
  • Performing diagnostic tests and analysis of results
  • Working alongside other healthcare professionals to provide adequate care to patients
